Custom Metal Fabrication
Brackets, racks, frames, guards, enclosures and one-off solutions for problems where no part exists to buy.
Some jobs do not have a part number. The bracket was never made, the part has not been available for thirty years, or the thing that would solve the problem simply does not exist yet. That is fabrication.
Set Apart Metal Works builds one-off solutions in steel, stainless and aluminum: brackets and supports, racks and storage systems, specialty vehicle and trailer components, signs and mounting structures, frames, guards and enclosures, fire pits, marine supports and equipment modifications. Recent examples include custom aluminum saddle racks laid out to fit a van interior with capacity for 25 or more English saddles, and marine-grade bracing designed to carry stone over an automatic pool-cover area that kept flexing and breaking.
On restoration and uncertain-scope work, a do-not-exceed authorization is used: an agreed ceiling, with a stop-work point before it is crossed. That is how an original Pontiac Fiero grille — sentimental and effectively unobtainable — got disassembled, straightened, cleaned, fitted, welded, reinforced and reassembled without an open-ended bill.
The Problems This Solves
If you recognize your own broken thing in this list, you are in the right place.
The part is not made any more
Fabricating a replacement, or repairing the original when it is worth more than a replacement would be.
Off-the-shelf does not fit
Constrained spaces, odd mounting points and equipment that has been modified. Layout against real dimensions rather than catalog ones.
The original design was the problem
When something keeps breaking, replacing it identically buys you the same failure. Changing how the load is carried is the actual fix.
Sentimental and irreplaceable parts
Slow, careful work with a stop-work point, so the cost never quietly outruns what the piece is worth to you.

About Custom Fabrication
Can you build from a sketch?
Yes. A napkin sketch with dimensions, photos of what it has to fit, and a clear description of what it needs to do is usually enough to start a conversation. Full drawings are welcome but not required.
How is a custom job priced?
Materials plus labor, quoted against a defined scope. Where the scope genuinely cannot be known up front — restoration, hidden damage — a do-not-exceed authorization is used with a stop-work point, so there are no open-ended bills.
Can you rate what you build for a specific load?
Not without engineering, testing and documentation behind it. Tyler will build to a design and be straight with you about what has and has not been established — an advertised capacity nobody has verified helps nobody.
Do you do repairs on antique or irreplaceable parts?
Yes, and carefully. Structural function and cosmetic restoration are treated as separate expectations, agreed before starting, because they are different jobs with different costs.
