Aluminum boats leak from predictable places: old rivet lines, cracks radiating from a hard landing, holes left by transducers and accessories that were moved years ago, and transoms that have flexed until they bowed.
Set Apart Metal Works TIG welds aluminum hull cracks, closes unwanted holes, repairs and reinforces transoms, and fabricates and installs flotation pods. On a bowed transom the fit-up judgment matters more than the welding — pods forced onto a plane the transom does not have will either not seal or will pull it further out of shape.
Preparation is honest work on boats. Paint, sealant, foam and years of lake water hide corrosion, and the real extent of a crack is usually longer than the visible part. That gets discussed as soon as it is exposed.

Hull cracks
Often radiating from a rivet, a chine or a previous repair. The crack is chased to its actual end before anything is welded.
Holes from removed accessories
Transducers, brackets and fittings that moved and left their mounting holes behind. Closed and dressed.
Bowed and rotten transoms
Flex over years pulls the transom out of shape. Repair and reinforcement, with fit-up against the shape it actually has now.
Leaking seams and rivet lines
Sometimes weldable, sometimes better resealed. Which one depends on the boat and gets an honest answer.

Can you fix a leaking rivet line by welding it?
Sometimes, but not always, and welding along a rivet line can introduce more distortion than it cures. On some hulls resealing is genuinely the better answer, and Tyler will say so rather than sell you a weld.
Do I need to bring the boat somewhere?
Boat work is often better at the shop, where wind and contamination can be controlled — aluminum is fussy about both. Some jobs can be done where the boat sits; it depends on the repair.
Will you need to remove the foam or flooring?
Possibly. Welding near flotation foam and wood is a fire risk and a contamination risk, so some repairs need the area opened up first. That is identified before starting where it can be.
Can you install flotation pods?
Yes, including on transoms that have bowed — which is where the fit-up judgment actually matters. Pods forced onto a flat plane a bowed transom does not have will not sit right.
