Railing work is production fabrication and field installation at the same time, and the field is where it goes wrong. Drawings say one thing, the poured slab says another, and the rail has to fit what is actually there.
Set Apart Metal Works has run this at commercial scale — roughly 1,151 linear feet of ADA handrail on a Nashville project covering ramp and stair conditions, switchbacks and 90-degree ramp turns, fabricated, field painted and installed, including redesign and refabrication when the project changed mid-build. That is the part worth knowing: change happens on railing jobs, and it gets managed as change orders rather than absorbed silently or argued about later.
Also repair work — municipal, apartment and residential rails that are loose, bent or corroded, including aluminum park handrail repaired on site for a public works customer.

Loose posts and base plates
Anchors pulled, grout failed, or the base plate cracked at the weld. The fix depends on which one, and they look identical from six feet away.
Corrosion at the base
Where the post meets concrete is where water sits. Rails often fail there long before anywhere else.

Bent rails and racked panels in car parks, loading areas and apartment stairwells.
Rails that do not fit field conditions
The classic railing problem: fabricated to drawings, delivered to a slab that is out by an inch. Field measurement and modification is part of the job, not a surprise.

About Handrails & Guardrails
Will the railing meet ADA requirements?
Railing is fabricated and installed to the requirements the project actually carries — drawings, local requirements, field conditions and any engineering involved. That is a different statement from "ADA certified", which is not something a fabricator can assert on its own, and it will not be claimed here.
Can you repair a rail rather than replace it?
Usually. Loose posts, bent sections, corroded bases and damaged panels are routinely repairable in place, which is far cheaper than a replacement run.
Do you handle painting and finishing?
Field painting has been part of past railing scopes and can be quoted. It is stated explicitly in the estimate rather than assumed either way.
Can you take on a commercial railing package?
Yes. Set Apart Metal Works has delivered a commercial ADA handrail scope of over a thousand linear feet including layout, fabrication, field painting, installation and change management. For larger packages Tyler works with subcontractors as the workload requires.
